Back on your feet

Foot & ankle care to get you moving again.

From a rolled ankle that won’t settle to a fracture or an Achilles injury, Dr. Bastian treats the injuries that keep you off your feet.

Quick answer

Dr. Bastian treats ankle sprains and fractures, Achilles tendon injuries, chronic ankle instability and soft-tissue injuries of the foot and ankle — with bracing, therapy and surgery when needed.

Don’t walk it off forever

Ankle injuries are easy to dismiss — until they keep happening or never fully heal. Persistent pain, swelling or giving-way deserves a proper look.

Many foot and ankle problems respond to bracing, therapy and time. When surgery is the answer, Dr. Bastian repairs fractures, tendons and ligaments to restore stability and function.

Conditions we treat

  • Ankle sprains & chronic instability
  • Ankle and foot fractures
  • Achilles tendon injuries & ruptures
  • Soft-tissue and ligament injuries
  • Sports-related foot & ankle injuries
  • Tendon problems (e.g., peroneal, posterior tibial)

Procedures & treatments

  • Ligament repair & reconstruction for instability
  • Achilles tendon repair
  • Tendon repair & transfer
  • Soft-tissue reconstruction

What to expect

Dr. Bastian will examine the foot and ankle, review imaging, and explain whether bracing and therapy will do the job or whether a repair is needed to restore stability.

Dr. Bastian believes in conservative care first when it makes sense — many problems improve with therapy, injections, bracing or time. When surgery is the right answer, he’ll explain exactly why, what it involves, and what recovery looks like, so you can decide with confidence.

Common questions

Foot & Ankle FAQs

My ankle keeps giving out — is that normal? +
Repeated giving-way after a sprain can mean the ligaments healed loose, leading to chronic instability. This is treatable — often with therapy and bracing, and sometimes with a ligament repair.
Does a torn Achilles always need surgery? +
Not always. Some Achilles ruptures are treated without surgery in a boot, while others do better with repair — depending on the tear and the patient. Dr. Bastian will discuss the trade-offs.
How do I know if my ankle is broken or sprained? +
Both can be very painful and swollen. An X-ray distinguishes a fracture from a sprain, which is why a proper evaluation matters after a significant injury.
